House Project ~ Necklace Holder

December was filled with house projects... cleaning out, organizing and getting rooms to fit our family's needs best. Several years ago my husband routered out the word "love" onto a wooden board and I painted it white. I had the idea to put a photo on the right. Well I never got around to adding a photo and it was put in a closet for a long time. I know, shame on me! Well fast forward to last month...
I have always wanted to hang my necklaces. The top of our dresser was lined with them and there was no space left. I had several pictures saved on my desktop showing creative ways to make a necklace holder. I also had many more ideas floating around in my mind. Well when I was rearranging the corner in our master bedroom I knew I was going to push myself to finally get something made and hung so I would be able to stop moving my jewelry collection in order to dust the top of our dresser. Plus it was looking way too cluttered.
While working in the bedroom I was also rearranging the playroom and going through a few things in the playroom closet when I came across the "love" board once again. I held it a few minutes and bam, I knew exactly how to make it useful for my needs! I was so excited! All I needed was the help of handy hubby again to make my idea a reality. (I'm sure I could have handled the project myself but he's so much quicker and if I did it, I'm sure it wouldn't have looked as nice.)
My new dressing corner with my new, unique necklace holder. I now love this space!
It is a tiny master (we'll call it cozy) but it does have a pretty nice walk in closet for an old house so it fits our needs perfectly. Now there is a girly corner and an awesome jewelry space saver that is like a piece of art in itself. :)

Close-up view of love routered out.
I penciled in dots where I wanted nails and hubby put in pretty brass nails.
There is room to layer many more necklaces.

I'm a happy girl... I'm sure you couldn't tell. :)
Thanks hubby for all your work! You're the best!

If you want a necklace holder like this, I bet hubby would make you one.

Clay it Again {favorite things}

Look what I got in the mail this week! A customized bracelet with my daughter's name! I LOVE it! And get this I won it from a giveaway going on at Christie Cottage. (Jacki hosts lots of fun giveaways on her blog.) After I won, the wonderful shop owner, Cindi from Clay it Again worked with me on customizing it. The original giveaway was for a customized necklace but I asked if she would consider making a bracelet and she agreed. :) I knew I wanted Kaelyn's name on it. In no time Cindi had the name done and emailed me a picture and asked some questions about what kind of bracelet/clasp I would like. First we thought Kaelyn would be wearing it but when Kaelyn saw pictures of it, she really liked it but said Mommy should wear her name! No need to push that idea. :) She is my little angel, sometimes naughty angel but she has blessed me in so many ways that this bracelet is a happy reminder of how lucky I am.
Poor babe got the stomach flu yesterday. :(
But she still had fun watching daddy photograph mommy wearing the new bracelet.
Cindi is one of the sweetest shop owners... so easy to work with. She went above and beyond what you would expect. Her customized jewelry would make the perfect gift for any age... use a person's name or even an inspiring word. Be sure to browse through her many handmade treasures at Clay it Again. She is also a talented oil painter! Check out her paintings at 12 Midnight Oils.

Looking forward to...

...actually a lot of things, but one is to wear these red shoes! I bought them towards the end of last summer at a thrift store (my lucky day!) and I can't wait to wear them again. I love fashion, but I'm one that rarely buys things for myself. I think it's more fun shopping for my two year old. Really, their clothes are so tiny and adorable and there is cute stuff everywhere. I get sick of looking for fun stuff in my size and not being a big spender doesn't help any. Anyway, when I found these lovely shoes in brand new condition, were comfy, and had a sweet price tag they definitely had to come home with me. Now I just can't wait for the sun to come out... please, its been a really long time since we've seen you!

Show is Quickly Approaching

Remember to come check out the vendors at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington, SD this Saturday from 1:30 to 4:00 if your in the area! Vendors will be spread out through the Sunday school classrooms. I'll be displaying some of my art prints and cards found HERE as well as my newly created headbands pictured. Headband sizes vary from baby to adult and are so adorable modeled. They make fantastic photo props as well as one of a kind gifts! I've been having so much fun getting away from 'fine art' for a bit. I also have several more new creations in mind that I can't wait to make... and may just lead into me opening a brand new shop on etsy. We'll see!

I hope your having a fantastic week and enjoying the beautiful weather! (Even though its been quite windy I love the warmth!)

Fairy Sweetness... Too CUTE!

Its October already? I can't believe how quickly 2009 has flown by! We're to the month where little ones get to dress up and be shown off in their cute costumes. I just had to share this adorable one from Hannahs Tutus. And I just have to say this model is pure cuteness!

Yes, my little Kaelyn is going to be a fairy. Maybe not quite as cute of a costume as the one above but I can't wait to see how it turns out and to get some fun photos of her in it.
